To whom may concern on test run in early epring season. Information below are based on situation of average year. Please be aware and check out latest status necessarilly because snow condition very each year and weather may occasionally change rapidly. Please act at your own risk and responsibility, and keep always safety as top priority.
Snow typically remains in mountainous areas until the end of March. If you plan to test run before, it is strongly recommended focus flat areas only such as the lakeside of Kutani Dam. From mid-April onward, snow remains from the start to Ouchi and around Kariyasu Mountain, but it should be passable with light crampons. From Ouchi to Kutani Dam, a round trip from Ouchi to Hotozan, then return along the course from Kutani Dam would be better. A round trip to Fujishagadake should also be manageable. From Masago to Kenmin no Mori, a round trip from Masago to Dainichi Mountain is possible even heavy snow, but other areas are unclear and should be avoided. From Kenmin no Mori to Takigahara, and Takigahara to Touo:, snow is accumulated, but with crampons, the trail is clear to go through. Until Golden Week holidays in May, the route from Dainichi-yama to Kenmin no Mori is best avoided, as the area near Dainichi-yama is snowy and easy to get lost.
**Course maintenance grass cutting occurs after snow melting, so trails may be unseen. Please verify GPX data thoroughly and prioritize safety during test runs. **Additionally, ropes are installed on the trail leading to Kenmin no Mori after passing Kodainichi Mountain.
